Prop Controllers - Choosing the right controller

Choosing a controller

In order to get a controller that is well suited for your application there are a couple things one should always make a list of the requirements your prop needs and then start lookign at your options.

Here are a couple things we use to determine what controller is best suited for a client.

Outputs:
How many elements (ie. valves, lights, foggers, etc) do you need to turn on/off?

Inputs:
How will the controller start its show (ie. Infrared Sensor / PIR, Beam Break Sensor, Step Mat, Hand Held Trigger)

Voltage:
What voltage do your elements require? Are they all the same or is there a mixture?

Programming Knowledge:
Do you know how to program a controller via a computer if required? If not, you'll want to look into real-time controllers.
